Wow, it’s hard to believe we are already at the end of September and finishing the first six weeks of school! Students have been busy working with clients on new design projects, and new students have been learning the essentials of the Adobe programs we use in class.
For the first time this year, advanced students are enjoying a yearlong, project-based class called Design Studio. Students from this class work on projects like the AdFed High School Marketing Challenge [watch for more info on this year’s challenge in the coming months]; t-shirt and poster designs for school activities/groups; posters promoting College and Career Readiness and Student Achievement; various mural and banner projects and advertising campaigns.
We have also hosted guests from the Louisville Free Public Library; Kentucky School of Art @ Spalding University; Ringling College of Art & Design. We are looking ahead to job shadow days at Creative Alliance [with Junior Achievement], and a field trip for Photography and NAHS students to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to see the blockbuster Matisse Exhibition.
